Use less, reuse, recycle

We are fully committed to minimising our impact on the environment. We source supplies and suppliers locally wherever possible; we have committed to 100% clean energy with an efficient use of natural resources to minimise our cabon footprint.

Our home property was originally built in 1802 as a farm cottage. Added to its original features are a host of modern improvements which make it highly efficient and comfortable to live in.

We have over 4000 trees planted on our site, which in time will provide all of our wood burning log resource (although this has some way to go to maturity yet). We burn zero fossil fuel on site and all of our imported electricity is from renewable-only sources.

Renewables

Living where we do, surrounded by unspoiled, rolling Welsh hills, we are ever conscious that our luxury holiday accommodation should strive towards being energy self-sufficient as far as possible.

To achieve this we have Photo Voltaic panels (PVs) generating electricity, ground source and air source heat pumps converting that energy into heating and hot water primed by a solar hot water array.

We also collect rainwater to re-use for toilet flushing which goes to our own on-site treatment plant.

Wildlife

We have a rich biodiverse site. Birdlife seen daily include the Great Spotted Woodpecker, Song Thrush, Great Tits, Long Tail Tits, Blue Tits, Wrens, Robins, Blackbirds, Jays, Nightingale, Pheasant, Red Kites, Buzzards Barn Owls and more we have yet to identify.

We have bats and bugs to satisfy them, Numerous bat roosts can be seen in our woodland, we dont intrude to see whether they are occupied or not, but some must be we reckon.

Our woodland has been planted with numerous native species along with a few non-native specimins for added diversity. Some of our trees are mature having been planted many years ago, but most are still in their early stages of development. In turn these trees will be managed to provide fuel for the house and holiday accomodation.
