Activities

There are plenty of outdoor activities for you to try out, both close by and in the surrounding area. From walking to quad biking, or simply picking wild strawberries, you will not find yourself short of fun and enjoyable things to do during your stay at The Secret Yurts.
Countryside Walks - There are plenty of designated foot paths within a short distance.
For starters just north of us is Glyndŵr's Way, a 135 mile long National Trail meandering through the open moorland, rolling farmland, woodland and forest of mid-Wales. Named after Owain Glyndŵr’, Prince of Wales and Medieval Welsh nationalist leader who organised a rebellion against the English king, Henry IV in 1400.

More locally,  at Llanfair Caereinion is Deri Woods. Here are a network of gravel paths (some fairly steep) through beautiful woodlands - leading down to picnic area by the River Banwy.

Attractions

Lake Vyrnwy - Just on the edge of The Snowdonia National Park and south of Lake Bala, Lake Vyrnwy is set amidst the remote and beautiful Berwyn Mountains. With spectacular waterfalls, and unspoilt open countryside, a visit to Lake Vyrnwy is a wonderful day out for all.
Powis Castle - Built in the 13th century as a medieval fortress, the castle and gardens have views across the Severn Valley. The world-famous garden retains many of its original features. The castle is furnished with decorative fabrics, world-renown paintings, furniture, tapestries, and the unique Clive Collection of South Asian objects.  
Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway - A short distance from our site is the 16 mile return journey by narrow gauge steam train through beautiful Mid Wales countryside.

Llanidloes market town - in the Cambrian mountains, reached in about 40 minutes via a beautiful scenic drive. As well as many small shops and cafes, it's the home of Coco Pzazz who supply all our chocolate and offer tours and chocolate making workshops.
